Waterpark event to help children locally, worldwide

A day of fun at Wild Rivers Waterpark includes an opportunity to learn about groups that provide help to destitute children facing crisis situations locally and globally, say organizers of the day-long event planned for Saturday (Oct. 9, 2010).

Strong Tower Ministries of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, plans for “Living Waters at the Waterpark” to start with a 5K-run/walk in the morning. The course has runners making a final dash inside the “Lazy River.” The “Wet & Wild 5K” begins at 8 am. Entrants receive a discount for themselves, family, and friends (up to 5 tickets) to the Living Waters day at the park (10 am – 4 pm).

All proceeds of this charitable event will go towards programs providing food, shelter, medical, and educational assistance to children in need in Santa Ana, Baja, and other areas of the world. Guests attending the event at Wild Rivers will have access to all waterpark attractions, and be able to enjoy live worship bands and guest speakers, making it a perfect youth outreach event.

“We’d like to help show people in the community how they can invest in the lives of these children who are lonely and in despair,” said Michael Walsh, who is the founder and president of Strong Tower Ministries. “We are talking about how to invest not only in help with food, shelter, and safety, but in living an eternal life with Jesus Christ as well.” The event also includes an outreach to local families. “We’re hoping for a revival,” Walsh said. “We want to show the love of Jesus’ arms around them.”

In addition to wanting to serve as “a conduit between those with the resources and the heart for serving, to those with a need,” Strong Tower Ministries states on its website that its mission is “to help bring children out of danger, hunger, and terror by delivering them into God’s strong tower of safety, warmth and love. It is our mission to change the world by delivering these children from extreme poverty, releasing them from spiritual emptiness, eliminating their illiteracy, and enabling them to fulfill their life’s purpose through God’s love.”
