The Uzbekistan government has recently imposed exorbitant fines and destroyed religious literature in hope of stopping believers from having Christian materials in their homes, according to Forum 18 News.
In April and May, 33 Christians have been fined up to 100 times of their monthly salaries and in some cases the fines have been appealed and reduced. Six Baptists had their fines reduced from 50 times to five times their monthly salary.
Meanwhile the Uzbek government is also cracking down on believers who have religious literature in their homes. Recently, The Religious Affairs Committee (RAC) ordered a case of Christian literature to be destroyed. RAC stated that religious literature can “only” be used “within the confines of religious communities.”
“Believers are deprived of their right to hold any Christian literature in their homes,” Baptists told Forum 18 News.
The Voice of the Martyrs encourages you to pray for believers in Uzbekistan who are living victoriously and courageously for Christ despite persecution. Ask God to protect and encourage them.
