Nearly 21 people are now known to have died in the recent clashes between Thai troops and opposition supporters in Bangkok, with more than 800 injured. The worst violence came when soldiers and police made an unsuccessful attempt to retake an area being held by the opposition supporters Saturday, May 15. They fired tear gas and rubber bullets, while protesters hurled bombs, in the deadliest violence in 18 years.
One World Missions missionary working in this area happened to be outside the city when the violence began and is staying there until the violence clears. Two of our churches are located in the middle of this “war zone.” Church members are staying in their homes for safety.
Please keep our brothers and sisters in Thailand in your prayers during this unsettling time.
