The Church of God International Executive Council is meeting for their regularly-scheduled April session starting at 9:00 this morning at the Leadership and Communications Center.

The Council of 25 leaders – 18 from the Council of Eighteen, five members of the International Executive Committee and a representative from Indonesia and South Africa – will discuss several vital issues related primarily to the upcoming General Assembly scheduled for July 19-22 at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Foremost on the Council’s agenda this week will be a review and fine-tuning of the agenda to be presented to the General Council when they begin deliberations on Tuesday morning, July 19. Months of preparation by the General Council Agenda Committee (GCAC) has produced a document which, once passed by the International Executive Council this week, will be released to all ordained bishops within 30 days of the Nashville Assembly.

On Monday night, April 25, the executive council gathered for a dinner moderated by General Overseer Mark L. Williams. Williams, whose term as the denomination’s top leader will end at the Assembly due to term limitations, took the occasion to express his appreciation to the executive leadership staff, the Council and Executive Committee. Eleven of the Council of Eighteen members are rotating off this year, as are two other members of the Executive Committee: David M. Griffis and Wallace J. Sibley. Those whose tenure will be complete on the Executive Council are Kevin Wallace, David Ramirez, Bryan Cutshall, Victor Pagan, Thomas Madden, Oliver McMahan, William Isaacs, Dwight Allen, Niko Njotorahardjo, Chris Moody, and David Cooper.

In addition to presentations to each of the above, Williams took the liberty to honor two past general overseers who are members of the Executive Council: Raymond Culpepper and Dennis McGuire. Williams expressed his profound respect for their leadership and presented them with a framed painting.

The International Executive Council is scheduled to meet through Thursday of this week.
