The Africa Firewall Project is an initiative of Men and Women of Action, under the auspices of Church of God World Missions, Cleveland, and in cooperation with the leadership of the Church of God in Africa. Individuals and churches are invited to share in the work and blessing of raising a firewall of God’s Spirit, grace and love across the African continent.
The following is an update on the progress of the project by countries:
Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya: Firewall trainers from the U.S., together with lead trainers from South Africa, in February shared in another round of Firewall evangelism and church planting seminars. Of special note was the growing number of women, who are becoming active in planting new churches.
Chad: An evangelism and church planting training conference was held in Chad. More than 60 new churches were planted there last year through the Firewall initiative. With the help of donors from South Africa, pastors were presented with much-needed Bibles and 32 bicycles, helping them to better reach villages in remote areas.
Madagascar: There was great excitement as pastors received their first Firewall training in evangelism and church planting in February in Madagascar, the unique island nation in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Southeast Africa. The pastors reported 25 new churches planted since being introduced to the Firewall initiative last year. Seventeen pastors from remote areas received each a bicycle from Wheels for God’s Word.
Angola: Thirty-four leaders and pastors from Angola in Southwest Africa responded with great interest when introduced to the Firewall evangelism and church planting initiative. The training will kick off in September 2016, with 150 pastors expected to participate.
