The 76th Church of God International General Assembly Website Relaunched
The 76th Church of God International General Assembly official website has been relaunched with new features and information. The Assembly is scheduled for July 19-22, 2016 at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tenn.
GA16.org is the official site, which was launched last November in a limited format for housing and registration. It can also be accessed by visiting churchofgod.org and clicking on the General Assembly graphic.
David Ray, chairman of the General Assembly Cabinet stated, “Housing and registration are two of the most important aspects for delegates attending the General Assembly, thus the reason we launched this website back in November. By January 1, hundreds had already fulfilled these two steps. The re-launch now gives pertinent information to make schedule and logistical planning more efficient for the delegates.”
Aspects of the General Assembly that have been added to the site include a schedule of primary events such as general sessions, General Council, a pre-Assembly LEAD conference, and the women’s service.
The expanded site also includes bios on special event speakers, which includes those listed above and five who will be presenting as “Special Orders of the Day” during General Council sessions.
The site features links to local restaurants and attractions, directional maps, and information about parking and transportation. Information and links are listed about the primary venue, the Music City Center.
In addition, the site remains the only place where discounted, contract hotel room rates for GA16 can be obtained.
A link entitled “Bishops” allows a search of Ordained Bishops in the Church of God.
“There are quite a few posts to be filled at this upcoming Assembly,” Ray explained. “At the last assembly we were able to offer this online listing of ordained bishops, which can be used to research names and ministerial file numbers ahead of time. This feature allows members of the General Council to take time to prepare and prayerfully consider who they plan to nominate.” Ray pointed out that the current list of names is subject to further updates closer to the assembly and should not be regarded as the final listing of eligible ministers.
Although the relaunch gives much new and expanded information, there are still many aspects under development or not yet realized. For example it will not be until April or early May until the General Council Agenda will be posted. Other items, such as ongoing news items, will continue to populate on the site.
“GA16.org is definitely not complete,” Ray concluded, “and won’t be complete until posting of the elections and appointments document after the close of the final session on July 22.”
