Tajik Missionary Pastor in Serious Accident

A national missionary pastor in Tajikistan and his family have been in a serious car accident.

Tajikistan is a mountainous landlocked country in Central Asia.

An email from the Slavic Gospel Association received by the ASSIST News Service said that according to Tajik church leaders, another driver rammed the pastor’s minivan at high speed as they were parked at a bus station. This happened while the pastor-named Boimakhmad (or Boi) and his children were getting out of their vehicle.

Boi and two of his daughters lost consciousness and suffered broken bones and severe bruising. The other children in the vehicle also received bruises.

The Slavic Gospel Association said Boi and his two daughters are improving, but they will need further treatment and eventually rehabilitation.

According to the Slavic Gospel Association, the incident has turned into an opportunity for the Gospel.

Association President Bob Provost said in the email, “The family is the only Christian family in their immediate Muslim village, and Boi surprised his neighbors by forgiving the young man and not filing a lawsuit. Instead, he set a Christian example by forgiving and praying for the young man who hit them.”

The Slavic Gospel Association said Boi’s neighbors were angry because of what happened, but are amazed that Boi is not harboring revenge and is pointing to Christ.

Provost added, “Please pray with us for the complete recovery of Pastor Boi and his children, and more-pray that this incident that the enemy meant for harm will result in many of Boi’s Muslim neighbors coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.”

The Slavic Gospel Association helps evangelical churches make disciples of the Russian people and the Commonwealth of Independent States for Jesus Christ through prayer, strategic ministry and financial assistance.
