State Expeditions, City Vision Impacts Major Cities

The Church of God logo

Church of God International Department of Youth and Christian Education has a renewed focus and a new priority. The #1 Priority is to help students and young adults become effective Disciples of Jesus and to get them prepared for and engaged in world-changing ministry. It is God’s plan that they “Grow” and “Go” !

Though unintentionally, the church may have taught an entire generation or two that faithful worship attendance or just being a “nice” young person was the ultimate goal to be a successful young Christian. Perhaps the church sent the irresponsible message that “someday” the youth could participate in ministry, do something significant, and make a real difference in the world.

Teams of students are “Going” this summer through Youth and Christian Education City Vision and Stateside Expeditions. Some of the cities available to students for ministry this summer include Baltimore, St. Louis, and New York. Participants will engage in a spectrum of opportunities including reaching the homeless, evangelism/witness, drama training, children’s and youth ministry, service and outreach events, and worship services.

Throughout America, people in major metropolitan areas are desperately in need of hope, encouragement, and ministry. This week, Church of God students are ministering in the heartland of America in the inner city of St. Louis. In a few weeks, almost 100 students will converge on the Big Apple (New York City) for ministry in Brooklyn, Yonkers, Harlem, and the Bronx feeding the hungry, providing Block Parties, and sharing the love of Christ.

The Urban harvest is ripe and ready and by challenging students to be real Disciples and “GO,” (Matthew 28:19-20) they are fulfilling the Great Commission!
