Commenting on “Putin Contends Clinton Incited Unrest Over Vote” (NYT, December 8, 2011), it is not sure that the US is doing its best to be friends with Russia when it wants to install a missile shield in Turkey and to criticize the way Russia is governed.
Russia is no Libya and the US has an interest to get Russian help in Afghanistan to replace the Pakistani one. I am sure it is more important to the US to save GIs’ lives in Afghanistan than to interfere in Russian internal affairs and even in the Syrian Russian ally’s ones.
These days the US needs all the help it can afford to be saved from all the wars (and their expenses in lives and finances) it was put in by the Bush administration and it won’t get that help by creating new enemies among the superpowers or the Middle Eastern countries. By the way, a Chinese general, speaking in the Chinese National Defense University, menaced the US of WWIII if it attacked Iran.
