Jessica Hoffman, founder of Pure Beauty Ministries

By  |

At 12, Jessica started to develop an interest in boys. “I was boy-crazy and a flirt,” she says. This situation soon led to her first real kiss. In Huntington Beach, California, many of her friends in junior high wore eye-catching clothes and were already dating. But something surprising happened to Jessica shortly after her first kiss. God planted a vision in her heart to launch a purity ministry for young women.

At 34, he was too young to be taken from her. But her dad’s diabetes led to a heart attack, followed by kidney failure in the hospital. At only five, she remembers driving to the hospital with mom, seeing the clouds part and the sun’s rays fall on the hospital. Somehow, mom knew he was gone even before they went inside and got the heartbreaking news.

“I still remember crying in the middle of the night,” says Jessica Hoffman, makeup artist, actress and model, in Hawaii shooting a pilot for a reality TV program. “I cried to the point my jaw hurt, but I didn’t want to awaken anyone else.”

Jessica didn’t talk for two weeks after her dad was taken from her. “I couldn’t fathom the thought he wouldn’t be there.” At the tender age of five, she cried out to heaven, “God, you took my dad, I need you to be my daddy.”

Sadly, her father died only two weeks before Jessica’s birthday. Seeing Jessica’s broken heart, mom got an idea. She placed a birthday card “from heaven” in the mailbox. It contained a touching, personal message to Jessica from ‘dad,’ telling her he had gone ahead of her, he was sorry he couldn’t be with her on her birthday, and he would be watching from heaven.

“After this, I felt like heaven was closer to me because I had two dads in heaven,” she says. “God gave me amazing peace through it all.”

“I saw a vision of me walking down the aisle dressed in white, while leading this ministry,” she says. In response to the vision God gave her, Jessica made a pledge to remain a virgin until her marriage.

There were many times in the years ahead when she “played with fire” and became overly intimate with young men.
