TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts University has received a commitment for $10 million from the Green family of Oklahoma City to be used for campus renovations and deferred maintenance projects in 2011. This most recent gift is in addition to the $30 million provided by the Green family for campus improvements over the last three years.
“On behalf of the students, faculty and staff at ORU, I want to express my deep gratitude to the Green family for their incredible generosity,” said ORU President Mark Rutland. “Their gift, again, will substantially improve our campus—a campus where we are transforming the lives of students who will continue to impact nations around the world.”
“At the one-year anniversary of the passing of Chancellor Oral Roberts, our family is honored to invest in his greatest legacy—ORU,” said ORU Board Chair Mart Green. “I know this university that bears Chancellor Roberts’ name will continue the vision of excellence in producing whole-person graduates.”
This gift will further renovation and beautification efforts throughout the campus. Almost $4 million of that gift will go toward important information technology improvements. ORU’s information technology department has identified key initiatives that will lower ORU’s total cost of technology ownership while providing cutting-edge services to the faculty, staff and students. These initiatives include providing virtual computing desktops, extending the wireless footprint across the campus, enabling distributed education, replacing the voice phone system, and updating television equipment to digital technology.
