GoBible, a pre-loaded digital audio Bible, has introduced on its GoBible and GoBible Voyager lines, a voice menu function that allows users with visual impairments to use these products and listen to the Bible.
“Over the years customers have asked for a digital audio Bible that the visually impaired can use easily,” GoBible LLC President Andrew Block said in a news release.
He added, “Now, the addition of the voice menu function allows all users to access the audio of the Bible in the way that’s most convenient for them.”
Besides the new voice menu, the Original and Voyager GoBibles have been redesigned to make buttons and controls more user-friendly. The GoBible Voyager also has been upgraded to include a rechargeable battery and Bible text on the screen.
Jennifer Rothschild, blind for over 30 years, author of Lessons I Learned in the Dark, and founder of WomensMinistry.net, called the GoBible “the first product that is both pleasant to listen to and extremely accessible” with an intuitive, easy-to-navigate design.
“As a woman who loves engaging in Scripture, I find the GoBible to be beautifully recorded and an absolute delight to listen to,” Rothschild said in a news release. “As an author of Christian books and Bible studies, the GoBible has become an invaluable tool and asset to my study.”
According to the news release, the voice menu function toggles on or off with user preference. When on, users hear an audio readout of each menu option as it is highlighted by the cursor on the Original or Voyager menu screen.
Working with Rothschild, GoBible also added audio instructions to help visually impaired users access the upgraded device. The instructions are available online either by streaming or going to download at GoBible.com.
“I love the GoBible,” Rothschild said in the news release, “and am so grateful there is now such a handy and enjoyable way to access Scripture for all including those who are visually impaired.”
In addition to the Voyager and Original digital audio Bibles, GoBible features pre-loaded versions of the NIV, King James, and the NVI Spanish translation on its Traveler line. GoBible also offers mobile Bible apps for the iPhone, iTouch, and iPad.
