If the leaders of Convoy of Hope’s Global Prayer Initiative have their wish, hundreds of thousands –if not millions of people — will pray annually on December 12 for the world’s poor and suffering.
Convoy of Hope, founded in 1994, is a faith-based organization helping to feed the hungry through children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches, disaster response and partner resourcing.
“The initiative is called 12.12 because we are asking followers of Christ to pray on December 12th of each year specifically for those who are in need,” said Thomas E. Trask, chairman of Convoy of Hope’s Global Prayer Initiative, speaking in a news release.
He added, “The 12.12 initiative is a network of compassion organizations and church fellowships from around the world who want to make a difference by praying for those who are hurting.”
According to the news release, participants will be asked to pray through 12 points of emphasis regarding the poor and suffering that include prayers for food and shelter to prayer for education and employment.
“The ministry of Jesus Christ is undeniably marked by His love and compassion for the hurting,” said Trask in the release. “We believe this unified effort in prayer will lead to a tangible and eternal difference in the lives of many people.”
