Dynamos coach Elvis Chiweshe has said his team is up to the challenge awaiting them against defending champions TP Mazembe of DR Congo in both sides opening Orange CAF Champions League Group A clash this weekend.
Zimbabwe’s Champions League envoys host TP Mazembe this Sunday at the National Stadium in Harare in the two sides first meeting in the mini-league stage of the competition.
Chiweshe told Cafonline that Dynamos had great respect for TP Mazembe but that his sides target was firmly on collecting the three points at home on July 18 in the Zimbabwean Capital.
“We respect TP with caution but we will play an open game,” Chiweshe said.
“We will play an open game, it is not going to be easy but we are positive and of course we do respect them.
“We respect them because they are a big team but we will try and get the three points.”
Chiweshe has some good news coming into this opening Group A match with the availability of Dynamos first choice and Zimbabwean international goalkeeper Washington Arubi has returned to Zimbabwe after a trial stint with South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Amazulu.
“Arubi is back and should join us, he is on his way from Bulawayo and I have been in touch with him all the way through,” Chiweshe said.
Chiweshe however, could not confirm whether Dynamos’ Zimbabwe international striker Cuthbert Malajila will be available for the game against TP Mazembe.
Malajila is currently attending trials at another South African PSL side Maritzburg United.
Chiweshe said he was still in the dark as to whether Malajila will be available for the big Group A match against the Champions League defending champions.
Malalija has been a key factor in Dynamos run this year scoring home and away for the Harare side against another DR Congo side St Eloi Lupopo whom they beat 1-0 home and away to advance to the second round 2-0 on aggregate.
