Athletics : African Athletes Shine In Japan

African athletes swept the boards in the men’s 5000m race as the IAAF Japan Grand Prix ended in Osaka late Saturday. Kenya’s Abraham Chebii won the race in 13:21.45, followed by compatriot Luke Kipkosgei in 13:23.38 while Ethiopia’s Gebre Gebremariam returned 13:23.57 to take the third position.

Kenyan runners also took the top two positions in the women’s5000m event, won by Leah Malot in 15:32.45, followed by Jane Wanjiku who returned 15:32.62 as Japan’s Kague Ogoshi took the third spot in 15:33.85
