Church of God General Overseer Mark Williams has announced the next phase in the church’s prayer ministry – a focus on praying pastors. The Church at Liberty Square in Cartersville, Ga., will host a unique ‘Praying Church: Praying Pastor’ conference, Thursday – Friday, August 22-23.

Jim Cymbala of the famed 10,000-member Brooklyn Tabernacle, renowned for their Tuesday night prayer service that draws some 4000 each week, not to mention their Grammy Award- winning ‘Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir,’ will share at the conference. Daniel Henderson, Liberty University professor and National director of The 6:4 Fellowship will also speak, with a special focus on the prayer life of the pastor.

Cymbala’s book, Fresh Wind- Fresh Fire, raced to best-seller status. Cymbal will share from his four-decades of ministry experience on spiritual power and authentic prayer. Pastor Daniel Henderson, President of Strategic Renewal, coaches pastors and congregations in prayer-based revitalization. His book Fresh Encounters- Experiencing Transformation through United Worship-Based Prayer has also been widely read.

“We are going to call on God and ask Him to teach us how to make our churches houses of prayer as we trust Him to also meet each of us at our point of need. Pastors need so much encouragement these days. Together we are going to experience His grace from the word and presence of Christ,” stated Cymbala of the conference.

Doug Small of Project Pray and Church of God Prayer Ministries is coordinating the conference. In addition to a day of training, Cymbala will lead a ‘prayer service’ on Thursday night, and some twenty workshops will speak to various aspects of prayer ministry.

State Prayer Leadership Teams will gather on Wednesday at Noon for a day of strategic prayer training. A special leadership dinner is planned for Wednesday evening.
