A scene of carnage in Gojra

Ahmed Raza Tahir was serving as Faisalabad’s RPO last year at the time of the Korian and Gojra carnage against Christians which took place when hundreds of Christian homes were set on fire, gutted, reduced to ashes and numerous Christians were burnt alive in their homes.

LHC had formed a judicial tribunal under the chair of Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman to probe and crack the sad and appalling incident of viciousness of great devastation.

Sources on the condition of anonymity said that the LHC judicial tribunal had held former Faisalabad RPO Ahmed Raza Tahir responsible of dereliction, and mismanagement which had fallen out in to massive loss of property as well as precious lives. Judicial committee had also speculated that due to the negligence tension between Christians and Muslim sky-rocketed.

On Monday, May 17th, 2010, while speaking to journalists including ANS, Pakistan Minorities Democratic Movement (PMDM) head, Atif Jamil Pagaan, said that his organization viewed minorities as a “pride of the nation” as they struggled for an independent judiciary.

Ms Raffia Saloomi, the deputy directress of Society for the Human Development (SHD) hailed the Chief Justice for taking stern action against the Punjab government.

Rights activist Ashfaq Fateh told ANS that the Chief Justice had become the “hero of all the minorities”, adding that “minorities will keep on working for the strong Pakistan.
